Doctor House Calls for People with Limited Mobility
If walking, stairs or travel is hard for you, getting to a clinic can take most of a day. A house call brings the doctor to you, anywhere inside Winnipeg's Perimeter Highway.

Medical emergency? Call 911 now. Chest pain, trouble breathing, signs of a stroke, a bad fall or heavy bleeding need emergency care. Do not wait for a house call.
House calls can help if you:
- Use a walker, cane or wheelchair
- Have trouble with stairs, snow or ice
- Are too unwell or too sore to travel
- Do not drive and find it hard to get a ride or take the bus
- Find it very hard to leave home or to sit in a busy waiting room
Making the visit easier
- Stay where you are comfortable: your bed, chair or couch is fine.
- When you book, tell us if it takes you a long time to get to the door, or how the doctor should get in.
- Keep a clear path from the door to where you are.
- Have your medicines and health card within reach.
- Someone else can book for you: a family member or caregiver just needs your PHIN from your Manitoba Health card.
Questions about the visit
How soon will the doctor arrive?
Visits are same-day. We cannot give you a specific arrival time, because the doctor is travelling between homes. After you book, please plan to stay home for the rest of the day.
Can a family member or caregiver be there during the visit?
You are welcome to have a family member, friend or caregiver at home with you. They can help you answer questions and remember what the doctor says.
